Speech Language Pathologist: President Khan Communication Services Inc.


Nausheen Khan graduated from McGill University in 1992 with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders. She began working at the Hospital for Sick Children in child language disorders and fluency. During this time she co-authored and presented several journal articles at the Symposium of Fluency Disorders in Munich Germany (1995), and San Francisco, CA (1996). She also developed and presented a bilingual fluency treatment program at the World Conference on Multilingual Communication Disorders in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 1995 Nausheen received her Certificate of Clinical Competency by the American Speech Hearing Association. While working at Hospital for Sick Children, she was a guest lecturer for graduate courses conducted by Dr. Luc DeNil at the University of Toronto.


In 1996 Nausheen was recruited by the Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked in the craniofacial clinic, and started a clinic for treating language impairments related to autism spectrum disorders, and other genetically predisposed syndromes.

Nausheen started her own private practice in Edmonton, Alberta in 2001. She was contracted by an agency that serviced children with autism in Edmonton, Alberta. She began recruiting other speech language pathologists to work with her in order to sustain the demand for services. Khan Communication Services, Inc. emerged as a network of speech language pathologists who come together to share resources and training so that every clinician is prepared to service a range of clients with various diagnoses.


Nausheen Khan is a member of the FSCD multidisciplinary panel for the Ministry of Children's Services in Alberta. She is actively involved in raising awareness of autism treatment services in the Edmonton community. She devotes her time to creating and developing models of service delivery that build capacity and meet each child's individual needs. She has coordinated a team of speech language pathologists in private practice to develop screenings clinics, clinics for individual services, and group therapy programs. Nausheen has expanded use of videoconferencing clinics to support services in rural communities around Edmonton. This service has is now offered throughout the province of Alberta in various school districts and health units.
