- About Us
The FNMI literacy and language enrichment program is a classroom based intervention program for children of First Nation and Metis backgrounds who attend kindergarten and Grade 1. The program helps students meet curriculum expectations by providing enriched programming for expressive language and phonological awareness skills in the classroom. The speech language pathologist conducta initial screenings on students at the beginning of the school year. Goals are established in the areas of narrative skills, mean length of utterance, grammar, and phonological awareness. A series of in services are provided to teachers to help them embed goals in the classroom using appropriate strategies, and track each student's progress during the school year. Parent workshops are also provided to ensure that parents also have the skills to target goals at home.
