
Karen graduated from Western Washington University in 1998, with a Master's in Speech Language Pathology. She created Camp Chat-a-lot, a summer program for children with communication disorders. The purpose of the program was to help children maintain their communication skills over the summer months.

Karen has worked with preschool children in ECS classrooms for over 10 years. She developed an expertise working with ASD, FASD, CP, Down's Syndrome, and other disorders that require specialized services. She has collaborated extensively with classroom teachers, educational assistances, OT's, PT's, psychologists, and other school professionals to develop individual and group treatment plans. She has gained significant work experience training children to use low and mid technology augmentative/alternative communication devices (GO Talks, I Talk, Big Macs, story strips).
